Frequently asked questions

If I reach my recipient limit on my plan, will my emails stop immediately?

Nope. We’ll email you about the overage and give you a link to upgrade your plan. If you don’t upgrade your plan, your emails will stop for the rest of the month. We understand not knowing when your product may take off and try to give you room to grow.

If I’m part of multiple organizations, will I be charged for each one?

Yes. Once you import repositories into a new organization, you’ll be billed for your selected plan

Will I be automatically billed?

Yes. You’ll be billed at the beginning of each billing cycle. This is based on what date you signed up for Whalemail. If you signed up on the 9th, you’ll be billed for that month you use, then again each month on that same date.

If I’m on the Free Plan, will I ever be charged?

No–free means free. We won’t even collect any billing information until you choose to upgrade your plan. We love the ability to test products before committing payment, so we intend to maintain a free plan as long as we can.

What’s the difference between “recipients per month” and “email sends per month”?

Recipients per month represents the total number of people you can email within that month. With our free plan, you can only email 1,000 people, but you can send those people a total of up to 5,000 emails per month. You can upgrade to a paid plan for unlimited email sends and a higher number of recipients.
